Doctors in the Division of General Internal Medicine frequently provide the first contact many patients have with our group for new or existing health concerns.
We strive to develop ongoing supportive relationships with our patients. Our areas of focus include:
• Prevention -- personalized counseling regarding vaccinations, smoking
cessation, exercise, nutrition, and geriatric assessment
• Identification -- heart disease, hypertension, cholesterol problems and
cancer screening
• Assessment of acute symptoms -- pain, fever, rash, infections
• Treatment and optimization of chronic illnesses
• Referral to an extensive group of surgical and medical specialists within
our group and throughout the community
• Hospitalization at St. Luke's and Roosevelt Hospitals --
Hospitalist Program
Our patients benefit from the division's 20 physicians who are board certified in internal medicine and hold positions at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. We all teach residents and students and maintain high standards for care in hospital and office settings.
