Center for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention

The Center for Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Prevention at St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals (SLR) in Manhattan is dedicated to improving the quality of life of patients with heart and vascular disease and identifying and reducing the risk factors for people who could potentially be afflicted with CVD.

The center is led by Merle Myerson, MD, EdD, FACC, a board-certified cardiologist with advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment of CVD risk factors. We welcome patients for either a one-time consultation or for ongoing counseling and treatment. In addition, we coordinate our services with a patient’s primary care physician or specialist. Our services are particularly beneficial for people with one or more risk factors, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, tobacco use or a family history of CVD as well as for men and women who have just had bypass surgery or stent placement.

Some of the key services we offer include:

  • Cholesterol and full lipid profile testing and treatment
  • Complete vascular screening
  • Management of high blood pressure
  • Nutrition evaluation
  • Smoking cessation program
  • Weight loss counseling
  • Physical fitness assessment and exercise prescription
  • Second opinions concerning medications and other treatment options

For the convenience of our patients, we offer services at two UMPA cardiology practice locations in Manhattan, including Harlem and the Upper West Side. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please visit SLR’s CVD prevention web page or contact us at one of the phone numbers below:
